Parents and Friends Association
As we look toward 2008 it would be great to see more supportive and actively involved parents raising the level of social interaction and community spirit. P & F are looking for people willing to help with preorganised social events e.g. cocktail evenings, winter festival, grandparent’s day and support staff when required. It is up to you what activity you want to volunteer for. It is also another way of meeting other parents. It is not necessary to attend the monthly P & F meetings.
We only have a few years to be a part of our son’s secondary school years; we shouldn’t let it pass without our involvement. The more we are involved the more we achieve for our son’s community and for our own family’s well being.
What is the Parents and Friends Association
We are a group of parents & friends meeting together on the second Wednesday of each month during the school term. Our role is to provide support & assistance to the Principal and staff of the college to enhance the quality of Educational facilities for all boys at St. Bede’s College. Our aim is to create opportunities for families to familiarise themselves with the running of St. Bede’s, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, while getting to know other parents and staff.
Why Join?
- to make new friends
- to learn what’s happening in the college.
- to enjoy social functions.
- to share ideas and talents.
- to become involved in the college Community.

What about fundraising?
In 2000, for numerous reasons, we introduced a small levy in lieu of major fundraising. All families are now asked to make this minimal contribution once per year.
What happens to the levy funds?
Each year, all departments of the College are invited to apply in writing to the Parents & Friends, for additional aids and equipment, which are unable to be met by normal college funding. After careful consideration by the Parents & Friends committee and after consultation and approval from the Principal, the funds are distributed. Every effort is made while making these decisions, to meet as many Department needs as possible. Our aim is in endeavouring to enhance the college equipment so that all students benefit in some way during their time at St. Bede’s College.
So if you are enthusiastic and like to be involved in your child’s community please leave your details at the office or email me at lindasig@optusnet.com.au
